We have been very busy the past few months in room 12. In October and November we were lucky enough to have another teacher in the class. Ms Dillon taught us a lot of new things including how to play the tin whistle. We had a lot of fun with her and we learned a lot.
We have also been focusing on S.T.E.M. (Science, technology, engineering and maths) education over the last two months. We have using our engineering skills to build models and vehicles. This has involved a lot of planning and teamwork.
Well done to the girls who came to school every day and got their attendance certificates. They are doing a great job. Keep up the good work girls!
We were learning a lot about 3-D shapes in November and we used 3-D shapes to make some cool constructions during maths stations.

In December we learned about coding and programming. This is when you give a computer or a robot instructions to tell it what to do. We practiced being robots ourselves first and we gave each other instructions and directions. Then we used the bee bots. These are small robots that we programmed to do many different tasks.
We programmed bee bots to go through mazes:
We programmed bee bots to spell words:
We programmed the bee bots to answer maths problems:
We programmed the bee bots to trace numbers:
We also programmed the bee bots to dance:
All these activities involved a lot of teamwork and problem solving skills as we didn't always get things right at first. However we were able to work together and figure things out and it looks like there are some future computer programmers in room 12.
